The Mullaloo Beach Parents and Citizens Association, known as the P&C, works as a separate organisation to unite the needs of the school with the wants of the parents in our community. It comprises of parents, carers and friends of the school along with our school principal, who volunteer their time to coordinate and manage a range of activities to support the school and the students. The P&C plays an integral role in raising funds for educational resources and much needed facility upgrades. In addition, the P&C also manage the school canteen ensuring students have access to healthy, nutritious and fun food options at a reasonable price.
Over the past few years the P&C have proudly raised funds through various events such as:
- School Fetes
- Quiz Nights
- Scitech Evening
- Mothers and Father’s Day Stalls
- Coffee and Cake stalls at carnivals and parades
- Easter Raffle
- Entertainment Books
- Christmas Appeal
Payments for P&C activities such as discos, fundraising stalls, canteen orders, special events can be made through the QKR app: Seahorse-Cafe-QKR-How-to-Guide
Every year the school creates a wish list of items that would greatly benefit the students, school and wider community. During the year the P&C work to raise enough money to allow some of these wishes to come true, whilst also setting aside some funds for large scale projects.
For 2019, this wish list comprises of:
- Decodable Readers $800
- Cyber Security information session for parents $300
- Raised garden beds to expand the vegetable gardens $1,400
- Cash subsidies for the Year 6 camp $2,000
- Upgrade of the Year 1 playground equipment in the nature escape theme $6,000
The long-term project for the current P&C is to upgrade the undercover area. The P&C will be starting the design stage this year and are hoping to source some local help through this process.
The P&C works tirelessly every year for the benefit of our school community and it is a platform that allows all parents and carers to be involved in the school. The P&C meets twice a term in the staff room which provides a great opportunity to not only find out what is happening at the school, but to bring forward ideas or issues and contribute to the success of the P&C goals. If you would like to be a part of the P&C, please contact us for more information.
